Course Overview
Graduate Marine Engineering (GME)
A pre-sea training program for Graduate Mechanical Engineers approved by the Director General of Shipping, Government of India. This program trains candidates for the challenging role of a Marine Engineer.
This 12-month Pre-Sea course at the Academy imparts comprehensive training in Marine Engineering and Shipboard Practice. It comprises academics and ship familiarization along with Marine Workshop training (as per IMO modules) conducted at the academy.
After completion of the course at the Academy, the candidate undergoes the four basic STCW courses. The candidate is exempted from Class IV Part A COC and obtains it based on the Academy passing out certificate.
Candidates then join shipping company vessels as Junior Engineers for sea time of 8 months, where they undergo further practical training and maintain their TARB to ensure the entire syllabus is covered. After this, they proceed for the Class IV Part B written and oral examination.

Pre-Requisites
B.E. Mechanical Engineering. Application, Interview, Selection & Medical/Eyesight Check-up.
Pre-Sea Training
12 Months Training (Exempted from Class IV Part 'A' COC). Essential to work as Engineer on the ship.
Sea Phase (Trainee Engineer)
8 Months On Board Ship as Trainee Engineer.
Stipend: U.S. $450 - $800Class IV Part 'B' & 4th Engineer
Obtain Class IV Part 'B' COC. Complete 12 Months Sea Time as 4th Engineer.
Salary: U.S. $2500 - $3500Class II & 3rd Engineer
Obtain Class II (Part 'A' & 'B') COC. Complete 18 Months Sea Time as 3rd Engineer.
Salary: U.S. $3500 - $8000Class I & Chief Engineer
Obtain Class I COC. Sail as 2nd Engineer / Chief Engineer.
Salary: U.S. $8000 - $12000Requirements

Academic Qualification:
B.E. (Mech.) with 50% aggregate marks from AICTE approved Universities / Colleges. Minimum 50% marks in English at 10+2 or 10th level is mandatory. Fluency in written and spoken English.

Age Limit:
Not exceeding 28 years on the date of commencement of training.

Medical Fitness:
Medically fit with eyesight 6/6, without external aids. Maximum power permitted (+) 2.5. No colour blindness. Medical requirements as per ILO Convention 147.

Selection Procedure:
Aptitude, IQ, Reasoning and Psychometric tests followed by an interview and final medical check-up through approved panel Doctors.
