Course Overview

Bachelor of Technology (Marine Engineering)

This 4-year degree course is duly approved by the Director General of Shipping, Govt. of India, or approved by AICTE. The Academy imparts comprehensive training in Marine Engineering and shipboard practice. It comprises academics and ship familiarization along with marine Workshop training (as per IMO modules) done at the Academy.

After completion of the Course at the Academy, the candidate undergoes the four basic STCW courses. The candidate is exempted from Class IV Part A COC & obtains it on the basis of passing the academic training/Degree. After this, he goes for his Class IV Part B written & oral examination.

Pre-Requisites

10+2 PCM (60%) & English (50%). Application, Interview & Medical Selection.

Degree Course

4 Year Course at Academy (Approved by D.G. Shipping, Govt. of India) including simulator training.

Safety Training

Completion of 4 Basic Safety Training Courses (STCW-95).

Sea Service (Junior Engineer)

Sea Service for 6 months as Junior / Trainee Engineer.

Stipend: 450 - 850 USD

Advanced Training

Completion of 3 advanced Safety Training Courses (AFF, PSCRB & MFA).

MEO Class IV Exam

3 months preparatory course including simulator. Obtain MEO Class (IV) Exam Part B.

Sea Time (4th Engineer)

Complete 12 months sea time.

Salary: 2500 - 3500 USD

MEO Class II

4 months preparatory course including simulator. Obtain MEO Class II (Part A & B) COC. Complete 18 months sea time.

Salary: 5500 - 7500 USD

Chief Engineer

Obtain MEO Class I COC. Join as 2/E and later Chief Engineer.

Salary: 7500 - 10,000 USD

Requirements

  • Academic Qualification:

    10+2 with minimum 60% aggregate marks in PCM from recognized Boards/Universities. Minimum 50% marks in English at 10+2 or 10th level is a must.

  • Age Limit:

    Not exceeding 25 years as on the date of commencement of the training program.

  • Medical Fitness:

    Medically fit with eyesight 6/6, with or without external aids. Maximum power permitted (+) 2.5. No colour blindness.

  • Selection Procedure:

    Aptitude and written test followed by CET of D.G. Shipping. Final selection after medical check-up through panel Doctors.
